Heather & Lane were married at the Ottawa Rowing Club last fall. Their handfasting ceremony along the river was beautiful on this crisp, sunny afternoon. There ceremony was a dream to photograph, not only because of the stunning location, but also because they offered the guests the opportunity at the beginning to snap some photos with their phones, before politely asking that they be put away for the remainder of the ceremony. Lane and Heather are both librarians for the Parliament of Canada and are part of a choir—karaoke at the end of the evening was a treat with a room full of passionate singers! As you will see from the photos, they are 99% unposed, except for when I took the couple out for no more than 15 minutes to capture some portraits and quick group photos. This is completely optional though, but I find it gives the couple a nice break to just be with each other before heading back to the reception.
